Job overview

Job reference: NAS-TCL

We are the leading UK charity for around 700,000 people with autism and their families. We provide information, support and pioneering services, and campaign for a better world for people with autism. We are proud of the difference we make.

From January 2015, Church Lawton School, a Free School, will provide education for 60 pupils aged 4-19 who have Autism and Asperger Syndrome. The school is part of the NAS Academies Trust and is developing significant professional and working partnerships with the already well-established Independent NAS schools; drawing on knowledge and expertise through professional working relationships to ensure best practice is shared.

As a new and forward thinking Autism Specific Specialist Free School, we are seeking a Teacher with a passion for improving life outcomes for every learner. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the new school's development where you will be working closely with the Deputy Principal and Principal to lead a small class of young people who will join the school in January 2015.

We aim to deliver the highest level of education and experiences to ensure the best life chances become a sustainable reality for every young person (on an individual needs led basis). Together, we will create a safe, positive and structured environment in which every young person is respected and encouraged to achieve independence (through academic, employment and personal skills development).

To be considered for this role, you will need to be able to demonstrate a desire for improving pupil outcomes (including those of high aspiration and vision), as well as some specialist ASD knowledge (through experience and/or practice). You will also offer a flexible approach to your role and be confident to deliver a range of subjects to a small group and across various levels of academic ability.

To apply for this role, please visit our website http://www.autism.org.uk/jobs and complete an application form. When completing the supporting statement, please refer to the job description and person specification, and highlight any information that shows why you are suitable for the role.
