Job overview

In light of our increasing proportion of students with English as a second language and growing numbers of students newly arrived from overseas, a dynamic and talented teacher of English as an Additional Language is to be appointed.

As a teacher of EAL you will be required to work with a targeted group of KS4 students that have little or no English and are therefore largely unable to access the GCSE curriculum. You will teach beginner English and where possible incorporate other foundation skills subjects to these 14 to 16 year olds.

The post holder will be required to work within our integrated Learning Plus Faculty and to adopt a collaborative approach to addressing EAL as a barrier to learning and achievement.

64% of our students have English as a second language and over 60 different languages are spoken by GCA students, ranging from Albanian to Yoruba.

The successful candidate will have a commitment to raising students' achievement and must be able to teach across the age and ability ranges.

GCA has a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and has safer recruitment procedures in place for the selection of staff.

Please download the application form via the TES website or the school's website and send your completed application either by post or via e-mail to voxley@greigcityacademy.co.uk.

The closing date for applications is 5pm on Wednesday 5th November and interviews will take place as close to that date as possible.
