 An introduction:

This is an exciting new role that will sit within the newly formed Creative and Digital Division at the College. The successful candidate will be joining a very student focused team and will share the same values of high quality teaching and high expectations of the students.

With this in mind we are looking to recruit a highly ambitious; enthusiastic teacher who is self-motivated and can work as part of a team. The successful candidate will be experienced in teaching A Level and BTEC IT/Multimedia at Level 2/Level 3.

The Priorities:

The main focus of the division this coming year is to reinvigorate the A Level Applied ICT programme, and implement A-Level reforms accordingly. There will be opportunity for the successful candidate to contribute to how the division moves forward as an integrated unit, bringing together IT, Media and Art.

As an Outstanding college it is expected that the successful candidate will be an excellent teacher with a track record of successful teaching and learning across A Level and BTEC courses.

The overall experience of our students is key, therefore enriching the students time with us is critical, it would therefore be expected that the successful candidate would contribute to this.

Skills and Experience:

The ideal candidate would have experience in teaching A Level Applied ICT and vocational IT (BTEC levels 2-3). Knowledge and/or experience of computer games development, along with a range of programming languages would be beneficial.

The post is suitable for either an experienced practitioner or a newly qualified teacher and CPD is an important part of the College's ethos.

About Nelson and Colne College

Nelson and Colne College, located in the town of Nelson, Lancashire, offers further education to 1,600 full-time students and 3,500 part-time adults. The college was founded during the reorganisation of education in Pendle in the early 1970s and created by the merger of several local sixth forms. 

Recent investments have included a £2m engineering facility, an all-weather sports pitch and gym, fully equipped science laboratories, and student study and social spaces. In January 2017, Nelson and Colne College launched a university centre to offer a range of higher education programmes in East Lancashire and beyond.
