Holyrood Academy is entering a very exciting period of its development. We have recently been awarded National Support School status which will create opportunities for the staff here to work with other schools that find themselves in need of support. We have been ranked by Ofsted as  ‘Outstanding’ since 2010.

We became a Multi Academy Trust from 1 April and as the Vector Learning Trust will be looking to become one of the leading education providers in the South West.  This is an opportunity for the right person to come and join us on our journey.  We are looking for someone who shares our vision to improve the life chances of the young people in the communities we serve and the passion to really want to make a difference.

Holyrood Academy is a co-educational, non-denominational secondary with sixth form in Chard, Somerset. As of the most recent inspection there were 1,229 students on the school roll, of which 146 were studying in the sixth form. The town of Chard has a population of 13,000, and is 15 miles southwest of Yeovil on the A30 road. Holyrood has a reputation for district success in sports, particularly in Rugby and Football.

Values and vision

Holyrood Academy prides itself as an inspirational place where the achievement of pupils is paramount. Each individual is encouraged to celebrate their talents and success in an environment where everybody matters. The aim at Holyrood is to ensure that every student is supported through their journey, motivated and appropriately challenged to achieve their full potential.

Holyrood Academy's Music Department has an inspirational extra-curricular programme for students to participate in. As well as the whole school choir, there is also a more specialised Chamber Choir, which together with the Swing Band and Orchestra, the students have entertained parents and the community locally, nationally and internationally on their music tours to destinations such as France, Ireland and The Netherlands.

Ofsted

“An expectation that only high-quality teaching is acceptable characterises the very positive attitudes of teachers. They contribute enthusiastically to the whole-school aim of raising standards of teaching and learning, and engage in training activities and share good practice. Teachers regularly give detailed feedback and guidance to help students improve their work.”
