Broughton High School is a co-educational school based in Edinburgh for students aged 11-18. It is a non-denominational school.
The school was officially opened in 1905. The school song is called “Broughton for Ever” and was written and composed in 1917. It was dedicated to the memory of the teachers, students and pupils who died for their country at war. The school badge was designed in 1924. The motto “fortiter et recte” means “bravely and uprightly”.
The school has a huge tradition of creating pupil-led school magazines. In the school library, there are copies of the Broughton School Magazine going back to 1911.
The school also has a recently-built state of the art building. completed in 2009.

Broughton High School aims for all members of its learning community to share responsibility for each other. The school aims to work hard to build a secure and pleasant working environment and in return hopes that students will develop a sense of pride in belonging to the school. The school has also devoted itself towards endeavouring to provide a quality education through planned target setting, which it expects will be monitored by its own staff, parents, and the local authority.
