Herne Bay High School is a mainstream, co-educational, non-denominational secondary academy for children aged 11-18. It is situated in Herne Bay, Kent, and it is currently oversubscribed, with 1,568 pupil on its roll.

The school has been a specialist sports college since 2002. Its facilities include a floodlit all-weather pitch, all-weather tennis and netball courts, a sports hall, gymnasium and indoor and outdoor climbing walls.

Herne Bay High School strives to be a highly successful and innovative school. It prides itself on its culture of high expectations and the traditional values of respect, discipline and behaviour. The school has a system of houses named after five of the planets in the solar system. The aim is to encourage a healthy competitive spirit.

The secondary school is passionate about supporting every child to achieve their full academic potential, while developing students to be responsible, mature and confident young people.

“Students’ achievement is improving. Students achieve well in a range of subjects, including English and mathematics. GCSE pass rates have risen in recent years and students make good progress from their starting points. Teaching is consistently good, with examples of outstanding practice. Teachers know their subjects well, relate well to students and have high expectations of them. Students behave well and feel safe in school. They have few concerns about bullying. Their attendance has risen considerably over the last three years.”
