Teacher of Chemistry, Newham   

LAE seeks a graduate teacher of Chemistry with strong subject knowledge to teach this popular subject.  We seek a teacher committed to high academic standards but also one who can communicate to young people a passionate enthusiasm for the subject.

The Chemistry department in September will consist of three other members of staff. Chemistry is the second most popular subject at LAE (after Mathematics) - this year 145 sixthformers are studying the subject at AS Level and 63 sixthformers are studying the subject at A2 Level, in the smaller Year 13 group. This year, sixthformers are going on to study Chemistry or Chemistry related courses, and 5 sixthformers so far have successfully applied to study Medicine at University. The department has partnerships with University College School and Highgate School, partner schools of LAE, and expert colleagues from these schools support learning and teaching and ISA preparation.

All members of staff must comply with LAE's Safeguarding & Welfare Policy.  If in the course of carrying out the duties of the post the post holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety and welfare of our sixthformers, these concerns must be reported immediately in accordance with the policy.
