Job overview

Teacher of Chemistry, Birmingham

The King Edward VI Sheldon Heath Academy is a vibrant and exciting place to be. The Academy is a successful (59% 5 A*-C including English and Maths, 99% 5 A*-C) and forward thinking educational community. We are committed to ensuring every child reaches their full potential - both academically and socially. We have been judged as 'Good' in our recent Ofsted inspection (November 2012) and have just moved into a new £26 million building. This is clearly an exciting time to join us.

We seek a confident, creative and enthusiastic teacher to contribute fully to the future development of Chemistry/Science and the Academy. Results are very good with 99% of students achieving 2 A*-C at GCSE or equivalents in Science. Furthermore, 100% achieved A*-C in Chemistry for two consecutive years, a trend that is set to continue. Chemistry is a popular subject at KS4 and post 16, so you must be able to teach Chemistry at A Level. With the capacity to raise attainment through motivating and inspiring students, you will help foster a culture of high expectations and achievement.

To be successful, you need to be driven and enthusiastic with a love for your subject. With warmth and humour, you will give over and above to support the wider life of the Academy.

We would welcome applications from experienced or newly qualified teachers.

Informal discussions and visits to the Academy are warmly welcomed.
To arrange, please contact Katerina Tzoganakou, Vice Principal.

Please contact the academy for an application pack, or email vacancies@keshacademy.com

Closing date: 1.00pm on Tuesday, 6th may 2014.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment.
