Over the summer vacation there has been unprecedented recruitment and a consequent increase in teaching groups. Experienced, successful, ambitious and flexible practitioners, with a keen interest in their subject, are required to support this and future planned expansions of both the school and the CIEG group.

If you have recently retired from teaching and have spent the past few weeks realising that you still have an urge to make this difference then I can personally recommend this opportunity as one that will offer a different kind of fulfillment and enrichment.

Together with providing our students with a high quality moral, physical and intellectual education, our school seeks to develop understanding and appreciation of both Western and Eastern cultures through our many international links. We expect our students to become broad minded and informed ambassadors for their country as well as true international citizens.

About HWSCD, China.

As the school continues to expand, HWSCD is looking for qualified and experienced teachers of Music, PE, English and Heads of Boarding to accommodate a new intake in January 2020. The details of each post can be found in separate subject specific documents that come with this advertisement.

The school opened in August 2012 with 22 students on a site that was formerly one of the town’s middle schools. The total renovation and refurbishment of the site presently provides high quality classrooms, laboratories, IT suites, a drama studio, hall, gym and indoor games area as well as outdoor basketball, badminton, tennis and volleyball courts with a six lane 300m running track that encloses an all weather football/hockey pitch. The facilities are first rate and all indoor areas have air conditioning. All teaching spaces have interactive whiteboards. We also have a kitchen and dining area on campus with a brand new student dormitory just 10 minutes walk away.

After 6 years we now have 330 students and the existing school facilities will support in excess of 450 students, a number that we are projected to reach by August 2020. To deliver the curriculum in English we presently have a team of experienced and successful teachers from the USA, the UK, Australia, India and South Africa. There is a very healthy age and gender mix with teaching couples and a young family in our number.

Our present GCSE and A-Level curriculum offer of Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, English, Further Mathematics, IT, Drama, Economics, Physics, Music and History. The lower school (12-14) curriculum includes Science, Chinese, Drama, IT, Art, English, Mathematics and Humanities. PE is an important part of both upper and lower school timetables. Our students are placed in one of four Houses. The houses provide pastoral and competitive opportunities that foster both individual development and teamwork.

We have international links with many countries and these presently offer opportunities for all students and staff to visit the USA, the UK, the rest of Europe, and Australia for a variety of educational and learning purposes.

Anren itself is approximately 40km Southwest of Chengdu, home of the panda, and capital city of Sichuan Province. With a population of 16 millions Chengdu offers all the Western facilities that you might expect to find in any international city in the world. The school provides free transport to and from Chengdu International Airport. Every weekend free transport is available to take staff to and from Chengdu.

Anren is an ancient town of approximately 40,000 inhabitants. It is situated in a very fertile plain and consequently agriculture, together with tourism, underpins the economy of the town. Anren is China’s only designated museum town and includes exhibits of national importance. The town gives visitors a glimpse of the ‘old’ China, a China that is rapidly being assimilated by internationalisation. At present the school community is the sole western based organisation within the town. This year the town has started to feel the impact of significant investment that will see the town linked to Chengdu by high speed train and a new direct highway.

The cost of living in Anren is very low compared both to the West and to major cities within China. Providing that you are not looking to buy a car, drink gallons of coffee or buy designer labeled goods from the West (since these commodities come with an added premium!!) then your money will go much further than it would elsewhere. Compared with the big cities Anren is relatively pollution free.
