UTC Reading Unqualified Teacher Scale UTP1 ? UTP6 (£17,000 - £26,500)

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic teacher of Engineering to this exciting new school, a University Technical College (UTC).  The UTC opened in September 2013 in a newly refurbished building which replicates a business environment with state-of?the-art facilities. This is a role that will allow you to truly be part of something very new; not only a new school but a new approach to educating 14-19 year olds; which is possibly the most exciting change in the education landscape in decades.

All students at UTC Reading specialise in either Engineering or Computer Science; at 14 they will also study a broad and balanced curriculum and at Post 16 the curriculum becomes more specialist with A levels in Physics, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Computer Science, Product Design, Business and Chemistry being studied alongside their specialist BTEC Level 3 course in Engineering or IT with a handful of globally recognised qualifications to prepare them for the workplace. At capacity we will be educating 600 students who will all have a passion for Engineering or Computer Science; it will be a truly inspirational environment.

UTC Reading will, in the words of Michael Gove, ?inspire and train the next generation of engineers, technicians, craftsmen and industrial innovators?.
If you believe that this is an environment where you can thrive, develop and substantially contribute to an exciting future for UTC Reading then you are encouraged to explore further by downloading our information below and contacting the Principal, Joanne Harper, for a more detailed discussion, if required.

Values and Vision

University technical colleges are a new type of school in which the curriculum is geared heavily towards employability and skills. UTC Reading is heavily focused on engineering and computer science, providing a high-quality curriculum in co-operation with industry partners. The school works closely with a number of external bodies such as the University of Reading, Microsoft and Network Rail. This is intended to ensure that students are able to maximise their employability and relevance in the modern workplace. Although engineering and computer science are the main focuses of the school, UTC Reading does still offer a strong wider curriculum with subjects such as humanities and languages.
