Located in Inverclyde, Scotland, Notre Dame High School is a co-educational secondary school. Founded in the Catholic tradition, Notre Dame has seen extensive redevelopment and modernisation since its establishment in 1972, and in 2011 moved onto a brand-new purpose-built site. Due to this, the school can boast of a wide range of modern teaching and recreational facilities. The school has around 850 pupils aged 11-18, making it average-sized compared to other secondary schools, with an economically diverse catchment area reflected in the school’s student intake.

Values and Vision

As a Catholic school, Notre Dame High School works hard to foster a sense of community among its pupils, encouraging them to work together for the common good in true Catholic tradition. The school curriculum is intended to be well-balanced and of a high standard, with pupils having an eclectic mix of subjects to choose from. The school also highly values the emotional and spiritual development of its pupils, working closely with parents and figures in the local faith community in order to ensure their safe and successful transition into adulthood and working life.

Education Scotland Inspection

“The school provides a curriculum that offers young people opportunities to achieve, as well as for personal and spiritual growth. Religious observance is an integral part of the daily life of the school. The school’s current curriculum is an interim one and will be modified further next year. Young people at S1 and S2 are receiving a broad general education.”
