Job overview

St Gregory's is a mixed comprehensive school, ages 11-18, with 1100 students (215 in Sixth Form) on roll. The school is in a rural setting on the outskirts of Tunbridge Wells and within easy distance of a main line station. London and the south coast are easily accessible.

The governors of this Outstanding school (Ofsted 2013) wish to appoint a teacher of English from September 2014, to teach at each Key Stage including GCSE and A Level.

We are looking to appoint an innovative and well-qualified teacher who will join a strong team of dedicated staff. The post is suitable for NQTs and experienced teachers.

St Gregory's is a successful school which enjoys support from the Catholic and wider communities. The English Department has had excellent results over the last three years at GCSE. Both English Language and English Literature are popular A Level choices.

St Gregory's is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and this position is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure via the CRB. We are an equal opportunities employer.

St Gregory's is a Catholic School, and a practising Catholic would be preferred, but the governors will appoint a teacher who is in sympathy with the ideals, aims and ethos of a Christian school and who has a commitment to comprehensive education.

To apply, an application form can be obtained on the school website or call Suzanne Burgess (Personnel Administrator) on 01892 527444 ext 141. Applications should be sent to the Headteacher, together with an application form, a supporting statement outlining your aims for the post and your CV, giving the contact details of two referees.

Interviews: Week commencing 6 October 2014
