Job overview

Required for September a teacher to play a major role in developing and delivering a suitably differentiated, personalised curriculum to students who have social, emotional and behaviour difficulties, in a uniquely challenging and rewarding environment.

Childhood First is a leading charity in the provision of care, therapeutic education and psychotherapeutic treatment for children and young people suffering the consequences of early life trauma. Thornby Hall, a listed building set in 17 acres of countryside, is a therapeutic community in Northamptonshire for up to 24 young people aged 12 - 19.

We are seeking an inspirational and motivated professional with a strong background in English who is committed to delivering outstanding teaching and improving English and literacy outcomes for pupils with special needs. The ideal candidate will have imagination, creativity, flexibility and will be a caring, safe and supportive role model. You will need to have English teaching experience in a mainstream or special school and be able to deliver English at all levels from KS3 through to A level. SEN experience is preferred but not essential as support and training is provided.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to;

  • Join the school in an exciting new phrase of rapid development within a highly regarded organisation.
  • Make a substantial contribution to enhancing the life chances of challenging students who have also made this commitment themselves.
  • Develop relationships with local school we have good partnerships with.
  • Work as part of a small team, and actively contribute towards whole school developments.

We are seeking an individual who will share our vision and values and our commitment to a focus on the 'whole' child. If you are a team player and have the drive, empathy and passion for excellence in a child centred environment, we would warmly welcome your application.

For an informal discussion with the Head of School please phone Simon Goddard on 01604 740 001.

Closing date: 15 September 2014.
