Job overview
NCS is currently looking to appoint an inspirational and motivational part-time teacher of Geography with the ability and proven track record to achieve excellent results. This is an exciting opportunity to work with the Deputy Principal to establish and design the curriculum and student offer as well as assisting the most able students in Newham achieve their true potential. The role will be 0.4FTE and you will be required for two days per week.
You will:
- Hold DfE Qualified Teacher Status, an undergraduate degree and preferably a postgraduate degree.
- Have experience of teaching Geography at A Level.
- Have a proven track record of successful learning and teaching and delivering outstanding results.
- Have the ability to draw upon their professional background to demonstrate their ability to successfully teach Geography to A level standard.
- Demonstrate their understanding of preparing students for the higher education admissions process for highly selective universities, including Oxbridge.
This role will provide the opportunity to work with the Deputy Principal to establish Geography in a new, dedicated sixth form centre. We are looking for a knowledgeable and expert candidate to start in September 2014 at the latest.

Newham Collegiate Sixth Form Centre, also known as The NCS, is a mixed further education institution situated in East Ham, East London. The college has been operating under the patronage of Newham Adult Learning Services; in January 2017, the Department for Education announced that the City of London Corporation would be the new benefactor for the college.
Newham Collegiate Sixth Form Centre officially opened in September 2014, providing education for post-16 students. It holds specialist teaching status in biology, physics, chemistry and mathematics, and was judged “outstanding” by Ofsted in 2016. In a recent ALPS report, The NCS ranked in the top 1% of UK schools for value added.
