We require an innovative teacher to join our highly successful and supportive Humanities departments. Tring School is a specialist Humanities College, with Geography as one of the three lead subjects. This post provides exciting opportunities for either an experienced teacher or an NQT.

The successful applicant will be:

All staff receive high quality CPD opportunities and there is a comprehensive induction programme for NQTs.
In 2014, 75% of pupils achieved 5+ A-C (including English and Maths). Sixth form pupils achieve extremely well and in 2014 60.7% of A-Level pupils achieved A-B grades. Within Geography 86% of pupils achieved A-C at GCSE. At A-Level 85% of pupils achieved A-C.

Main areas of responsibility:
Curriculum Delivery:

  • To ensure that the KS3 Humanities curriculum is delivered to the highest standard under the direction of the relevant subject leaders.
  • To investigate and pilot new initiatives in resources, class texts and teaching strategies
  • To develop, implement, maintain and review schemes of work, including assessment methods and homework tasks, which meet school and national requirements, and are accessible to all levels

Student Attainment/Reporting:

  • To raise standards of student attainment and achievement across all key stages and to monitor and support student progress
  • To ensure effective communication (including the completion of reports and reviews) and provide relevant and pertinent information to pupils, staff, parents, other members of staff as required
  • To ensure effective and up to date tracking, monitoring and recording is carried out for all classes taught.
  • To ensure effective communication with parents/carers, so they are kept up-to-date with curriculum developments and their children's progress
  • To ensure that Student Voice is carried out with the key stage and discuss work, progress and attitudes with sample groups of pupils. Report findings to the subject leader and implement changes if necessary.

Tring School is popular and over-subscribed, serving the town of Tring and the surrounding villages. It is a mixed Church of England all-ability school, 1500 on roll, over 300 Post-16. Academic attainment is well above average and improving year on year. The school strives to support and encourage individual growth within a caring community. We have a talented team of staff who are ambitious to become outstanding in all areas of our work. Ofsted Inspection January 2014, 'Teaching is good overall with outstanding features. Teaching is outstanding in the sixth form. Students of all abilities show high achievement in a wide range of subjects. Students are very attentive and behave well in lessons.'
