Job overview

Teacher of Mathematics, Birmingham

Are you an outstanding Teacher of Mathematics?

Would you like to join the top school in the country for value added in Mathematics?

St Alban's Academy is an outstanding Church of England academy serving inner city Birmingham. It has a transformational impact on the lives of the young people with whom it works, and challenges everyone who comes through its doors to make the most of their God-given talents. In January 2013 the academy moved into brand new purpose built accommodation, and in September 2013 our brand new sixth form opened.

Maths is a popular post-16 subject at St Albans Academy, with a substantial number of students opting for A Level Maths and Further Maths. We achieved 83% A*-C last year at GCSE. We are looking for an outstanding Teacher of Mathematics to help us build on this success by creating an outstanding education for all of our students.

The department takes a very holistic view of students' development and works relentlessly to overcome barriers to learning. The headteacher, with his senior leaders, sets very high expectations and ensures that they are realised through rigorous monitoring and support systems for students and staff.

This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious teacher to join a successful department at an exciting time in the school's development.

We welcome applications from NQTs as well as more experienced teachers. TLR opportunities may be available for experienced candidates.

The successful candidate will:

  • be an outstanding maths teacher
  • have demonstrable evidence of raising attainment and developing excellence
  • be committed to St Alban's ethos of high expectations and no excuses
  • have the resolve to make a real difference to the lives of pupils.

By joining St Alban's Academy you will benefit from small class sizes, a supportive leadership team, a 20-hour teaching week and regular departmental meetings that are held within the school day.
