Job overview

Teacher of Mathematics, Kent

Homewood School is proud to be "A good School in all aspects" (OFSTED October 2012). We are progressive and innovative and have continued to go from strength to strength, achieving our best ever examination results in 2013 at GCSE and A Level.

Due to the recent surge in popularity of A level and Further A Level Mathematics, our department finds itself in the envied position of requiring to expand our thriving team of mathematicians. This is due to a direct result of our GCSE mathematics results increasing at all grades A*-C. With our delivery of Further Mathematics at A level we boast a team who specialise in all disciplines (Further Mathematics, Decision Mathematics, Mechanics and Core Mathematics). We currently look forward to increasing the numbers of students who leave us to study Mathematics at top Universities as A level results continue to increase.

We welcome candidates with experience of teaching higher level mathematics as well as those with less experience to join our very successful and supportive department. You will be enthusiastic about teaching and learning and genuinely want to pass on your knowledge to young people.

Homewood School has a growing national reputation for our engagement in curriculum development, personalisation and welfare management. All teaching staff are provided with an IPad.

About Homewood School and Sixth Form Centre

Homewood School & Sixth Form Centre is a mixed 11 – 18 wide ability school with Academy status with 2,100 students including 350 in the Sixth Form. We are part of Tenterden Schools’ Trust working in collaboration with local primary schools serving the Wealden town of Tenterden and the surrounding villages. The school is situated on the edge of Tenterden and enjoys a large semi-rural site overlooking open countryside.

Homewood has excellent facilities for all its students and our specialisms in Performing Arts, Applied Learning and the Rural Dimension underpin our approaches to learning which are designed to raise achievement across the whole student body. We aim to maintain and develop the cultural aspirations of the school community in line with our priorities of “belonging” and “respect” and offer a broad range of curriculum opportunities in all subject areas. This also extends into the local community through partnerships across primary, secondary and higher education sectors as well as non-educational community partners.

Homewood provides a secure and caring learning environment in which all students can flourish and succeed. It is a school renowned for its support for students’ wellbeing. Consideration and respect for each other is central to our work.  We are immensely proud of the achievements of our students and are committed to enabling all to reach for individual excellence.
