About Challney High School for Boys

Challney High School for Boys is an 11 to 16 converter academy with approximately 825 students located in Luton, Bedfordshire.

We are a highly successful school, deemed outstanding at our last inspection and with a long record of on-going improvements in student achievement.

Our effective CPD practice was awarded the TES ‘Outstanding Staff Training/Development Initiative’ in 2009 and the school was one of the first to receive the Investors in People Gold Award in December 2010.

We also have a long and successful history as the lead school for SCITT provision through the Chiltern Training Group (CTG) which was judged outstanding by Ofsted in April 2009 and again, in all categories, in 2014.

We became a national teaching school in the first cohort in September 2011 and have established a very successful cross-phase alliance (The Chiltern Teaching School Alliance) which has acquired a national reputation for joint practice development and specialist science provision with partner primary schools.

In 2013 we became part of The Chiltern Learning Trust which is a multi-academy trust comprising of Denbigh High School, Challney High School for Boys and Dallow Primary School.
