Job overview

Having recently appointed a New Head of Mathematics we wish to strengthen the Faculty further by appointing a Teacher of Mathematics who has the potential to be outstanding.

We are seeking a high performing practitioner who can motivate and inspire students and bring Maths alive.

While we will always value experience we place even more emphasis on a real enthusiasm and passion for the subject, a desire to make a difference and a deep determination to succeed, therefore applications from Newly Qualified Teacher are welcome.

We believe our students deserve the best, and as such this position comes with a £2K golden handcuff.

George Pindar has been recognised nationally for both student progress and narrowing the gap and our students were commended by Ofsted for their positive behaviour at our most recent inspection. We are a supportive and positive co-educational school with 700 students.

We are situated on the outskirts of the seaside town of Scarborough, which sits between the Yorkshire Wolds and North Yorkshire Moors National Park.

Prospective candidates are strongly encouraged to visit the School or contact the Headteacher for an informal conversation.

Deadline for receipt of applications: Mid day, Tuesday 21st October
Interviews to be held: Thursday, 23rd October

Application forms available on-line or email the school on wendy.hickling@gps.n-yorks.sch.uk for an application pack.

George Pindar School is situated on the south-side of the seaside town of Scarborough, surrounded by the Yorkshire Wolds and Moors.

Curriculum:
We have a curriculum for success, which supports our students on one of three learning pathways.  Each pathway is designed to provide stretch and challenge as well as support where it is needed.  For example, our middle pathway allows students to follow a balanced curriculum of GCSEs with some high value vocational qualifications, but has additional literacy and numeracy support built in.

As a result, our students are enthusiastic,  respond well to staff and are  increasingly successful.

Learning:
Learning is central to all we do and we expect all our students to progress well as a result of effective and engaging teaching.  A key aspect of any Head of Faculty’s role is working with their colleagues to ensure that learning in their area is as good as it can be.

CPD:
We believe it is essential to invest in the development of staff.  While we offer the opportunity to participate in specialist external CPD, we are increasingly focused on sharing best practice within school via our Teaching and Learning Group and our Coaching initiative.  We believe this is the key to ensuring everyone plays a part in the school’s success and development.
