The Kingsway Academy is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form situated in the Leasowe area of eastern Merseyside. It is a sponsor led academy supported by a multi-academy trust called Northern Schools Trust. The trust is a charitable organisation transforming the lives of children by providing expertise and specialist tutors, particularly for schools from areas of social and economic deprivation. The school will provide 1,450 places for secondary school students between the ages of 11-19 when fully subscribed.

The school had its roots in Wallasey Grammar School in the 19th century, which moved site several times before finding its current Leasowe home in 1967, where it became Wallasey Comprehensive School. The school converted to academy status in February 2015, having adopted the name The Kingsway Academy the previous September.

Values and Vision

The Kingsway Academy prides itself as being “inspirational education for 11-19 year olds in the heart of Wirral”. Its main themes are “respect, achieve, succeed” and there is a consistent culture of high expectation and aspiration, with an underlying vision of being a school where all students can meet their full potential.

Ofsted

“Results at AS-level and in vocational subjects have improved significantly in 2013 as a result of improved monitoring of students’ progress and changes to the curriculum. Students with disabilities or special educational needs make good progress when they are taught in the Redgrave Centre. The resolute leadership of the headteacher, senior leaders and governors provides very clear direction and they have moved swiftly to put actions into place to address weakness.”
