Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Teacher of Maths to join our developing Maths department. The college is converting to an academy sponsored by Outwood Grange Academies Trust this academic year; the trust has already begun its work in bringing about rapid improvement in behaviour, attainment and progress, allowing teachers to teach and students to succeed. The successful candidate will be able to access the extensive advice, support, resources, CPD and career opportunities available in the college and across the Outwood Grange Family of Schools.

Carlton Community College is an 11 - 16 school (NOR 800) occupying a modern building in North East Barnsley and is easily accessible from South and West Yorkshire.

This is an opportunity to join a school in a pivotal year and be part of that rapid improvement, transforming the life chances of the young people in our care. If you care about the success of your students, and have the energy to make that success a reality, we would welcome your application. A recruitment and retention allowance may be available to an outstanding candidate.

For more information please look at www.hays.co.uk/jobs/carltoncc.

To request an application form, please contact our recruitment partner, Deborah Henderson at Hays Education on 01142 896746, email deborah.henderson@hays.com.

If you are interested in this role, we invite you to contact Deborah who can arrange a time for you to speak to Andrew Cousins, our Head of Maths. If you have any questions, you would be very welcome to visit, by arrangement, to see lessons and witness the rapid improvement that has already occurred in this school.

The closing date for this post is Monday 20th October at 12.00 noon.
Interviews are planned for 21st or 22nd October.

Carlton Community College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to complete a DBS form in line with Section 115 of the Police Act 1997.

We are an Ofsted Good rated, 11- 16 academy based in the friendly, attractive village of Carlton in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. The Academy became part of the Outwood Family of Schools in 2016.

We are delighted that in its latest report, Ofsted noted ‘staff morale is high’ and that we offer a ‘well-considered programme of professional development’ which ‘ensures that staff continuously improve their skills and knowledge.’

We believe that learning should be both enjoyable and enriching. We are innovators with a knowledge-rich curriculum, designed to personalise learning for every student, helping them to reach their potential.

With a holistic view of education, we value vocational, practical, creative and academic excellence equally, creating an environment where every student can shine.

We have won numerous awards as a school and we have been accredited with the prestigious IQM Award, in addition to being an IQM Centre of Excellence, which highlights that inclusion at all levels is of paramount importance to us. We are also proud to have been awarded Bronze Status by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health Award.

As we continue to improve, help to take us to the next level.

The Outwood Family of Schools pride ourselves on fully supporting colleagues within the Family both professionally and personally.

We work hard to ensure we reduce workload on staff, allowing more time in the classroom to put our vision of students first, raising standards and transforming lives into practice.

As a founding Trust of the National Institute of Education (NIoT), we will actively invest in your future through working closely with the Outwood Institute of Education and NIoT to offer access to a wide range of CPD opportunities, with all teaching staff receiving a minimum of two hours of CPD each week.

We also offer a generous employment package with a whole host of staff benefits, including family friendly policies, enhanced occupational benefits available (such as maternity, adoption and parental leave) with no qualifying period, funded CPD for qualifications up to and including Masters level plus other exclusive benefits including a partnership with car leasing company, Synergy.

All academies within the Outwood Family have gained the IQM Inclusive Schools Award with 18 having Centre of Excellence status and one holding Flagship status.

If you share our vision, join our family.
