The ability to travel within Aberdeenshire is essential. Salary for this post will be in accordance with SNCT agreements. Applicants must be or eligible to be fully GTC Scotland registered. This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. An offer of employment by Aberdeenshire Council will be subject to the outcome of this check being satisfactory. The preferred candidate will also be required to provide an Overseas Criminal Records Check from other countries as deemed necessary. Job Purpose

  • To deliver quality education to assigned pupils and contribute to the professional, corporate life of the school or group of schools in relation to pupils, staff and appropriate external bodies within the agreements of the Local Negotiating Committee for Teachers and the Scottish Negotiating Committee for Teachers.

Main Tasks

  • Deliver a quality education to pupils in accordance with the 3-18 curriculum framework and Council policy and guidelines
  • Contribute to the professional and corporate life of the school(s) 
  • Operate within Aberdeenshire Council's framework for Quality Assurance and Development

Experience/Qualifications/Personal Qualities
Essential Criteria

  • Good knowledge of current planning and assessment procedures
  • Good understanding of national and local curriculum policies
  • Recognised and Relevant Teaching Qualification 
  • Registered or eligible to be registered with GTC Scotland
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the curriculum for excellence
  • Proven ability to plan and organise and deliver
  • Flexibility
  • Good time management
  • Ability to use a range of teaching styles
  • Ability to develop positive professional relationships with colleagues and pupils
  • Ability to work effectively within a range of learning environments
  • Good team player
  • Approachable
  • Motivated and enthusiastic/Self-starter

Desirable Criteria

  • Recent teaching experience preferably involving one or more of the specialist areas
  • Knowledge of AifL programme
  • Willingness to undertake additional training to develop knowledge and skills
  • Evidence of recent professional development
  • ICT Skills
  • Knowledge of H&S issues
  • Ability to develop learning materials
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Knowledge of and interest in current education initiatives
