Job overview

For January 2015 or earlier, we are looking for a talented, enthusiastic and well-qualified Teacher of Psychology (maternity leave cover) for this oversubscribed comprehensive school with a long record of high student achievement.

This year 70% of students gained 5 or more A*-C grades including English and Maths at GCSE, and our motivated students make excellent progress. OFSTED graded the school outstanding and commented "Students enjoy learning and take tremendous pride in their school". A Level Psychology and Sociology and Level 3 Health and Social Care are all popular options in our Sixth Form. The ability to teach Psychology to A Level is essential as is the willingness to contribute to other courses in the department.

Applicants should be keenly interested in how children learn, as well as committed to equal opportunities and a collaborative approach to teaching and learning. The school offers staff excellent resources in a state-of-the-art building, a wide ranging professional development programme and support for career progression. The post would suit either an NQT or a more experienced teacher.

Whitmore High School is a mixed, non-denominational community comprehensive secondary school and sixth form for pupils aged 11-18. It is located in the London Borough of Harrow, and is operated by the local council.

Whitmore was founded in 1974, and has about 1,600 pupils.
