Thank you for your interest in the post at Regents Park Community College. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic teacher of Science to join the the school's supportive team of dedicated staff. As a school, we strive to achieve the highest standards through the recruitment of excellent staff and accordingly, there may be additional responsibilities and opportunities for an outstanding candidate. The post would suit either an NQT or a more experienced teacher. The school prides itself on personalised professional development and will offer an appropriate and extensive support or development package.
It is a very exciting time to be joining the Science department at Regents Park. The department is an innovative department staffed by specialist Science teachers. The department is friendly and supportive with lots of enthusiasm for Science and improving teaching and learning. The department is housed within a suite of six purpose built classrooms, all with wall mounted interactive whiteboards.
Regents Park was judged to be in 'special measures' in the last inspection in July 2013. Since the inspection the school has received positive HMI visits [see enclosed], the fantastic 2013 GCSE results of 67% 5 A* - C including English and Maths have been validated placing Regents Park as number two in the league table of similar schools and ranked number one secondary school in Southampton.
The school has benefited from a positive change in school ethos, a new senior management structure and the sustained support of Bitterne Park Teaching School team including their headteacher, Mrs Susan Trigger, becoming executive headteacher.
Regents Park is experiencing a period of rapid change. In our centenary year, the school is now fully co-educational following a long and distinguished history as a girls' school. At this time Regents Park is an exciting and stimulating place to work. The post will provide a challenge, for those willing take it on comes the very highest level of job satisfaction.
