About Theale Green School

Theale Green School joins progressive multi-academy trust

Theale Green School has today announced that it is to join Activate Learning Education Trust, the multi-academy trust of Activate Learning, whose other members include Reading College and UTC Reading,

the first university technical college in the country to achieve an Outstanding Ofsted rating.

Following a successful programme of school improvements - as demonstrated by significantly improved examination results last year – the school is taking the next step in its development by becoming

a member of a multi-academy trust

The move to join Activate Learning Education Trust (ALET) builds on the firm platform provided by its four years of sponsorship by Bradfield College, which will continue to work with the school as an educational partner.

Theale Green School Chair of Governors John Gate told staff at the school today “Our progress from a sponsored academy to part of the Activate Learning multi-academy trust is immensely positive and very exciting for the school. I am also delighted that Bradfield College will continue to work with the school as an educational partner.

“The ability of the school to access a broad range of services through the multi-academy trust will ensure we can strengthen our focus on teaching, learning and pupil progression.”

ALET chief executive officer Lee Nicholls added “We welcome Theale Green School as the newest member of our trust and look forward to working with the staff, governing body and pupils and with our partner Bradfield College to accelerate the school on its journey towards being an outstanding school.

“Theale Green School will benefit from shared experience, expertise, training and resources of the larger group as well as the proven ALET methods that will improve the learning experience, results and destinations of pupils at Theale Green School.”

The Headmaster of Bradfield College, Dr Chris Stevens, welcomed the move, “Bradfield has sponsored Theale Green School since 2013 and is pleased at the significant progress which has been achieved at the School over the period. It is now in the best interests of the school to become part of a multi-academy trust, and we are confident that Activate Learning Education Trust will provide the school with a stable and successful future. Bradfield will continue its educational commitment to the school through an educational partnership covering both curriculum enrichment and co-curricular activities.”

Activate Learning will immediately start supporting the school in its improvement work and together they will engage with staff, pupils and parents and other local stakeholders on the plans.

It is expected that the formal arrangements for transfer will take effect in the spring.
