This exciting and rewarding post is suitable for both NQTs and experienced teachers alike to join our successful Science department.

St Thomas's Centre pupil referral unit in Blackburn encompasses 5-16 year old pupils with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties and also includes pupils with more serious medical issues. We cater for young people aged 11-16 years who have been either permanently excluded or who are at risk of permanent exclusion from mainstream school.

The Management Committee and Senior Leadership Team wish to appoint an enthusiastic and flexible practitioner who is able to offer Science in the first instance to GCSE level.

St Thomas's Centre is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. Appointments will be subject to references and enhanced DBS checks.

We are seeking to appoint a Science teacher.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be an excellent practitioner
  • Have the knowledge and experience, or ambition to teach across the whole range of age and ability
  • Be enthusiastic, resourceful and keen to ensure that the highest possible standards of pupil achievement, personal development and well-being are achieved
  • The ability to offer another accredited qualification would be an advantage.
