Coln House School is a weekly boarding school for boys and girls aged 8 - 16 with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties. The school is situated on the edge of the growing Cotswold market town of Fairford, about 8 miles from Cirencester and 15 miles from Swindon. We are seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Teacher of Science to join our teaching team in this uniquely challenging and rewarding environment delivering KS3 through to GCSE. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to shape the direction of the subject at the School. Suitable candidates will have imagination, creativity, flexibility and originality and will provide a caring, safe and supportive role model. You will clearly understand the rigorous requirements of the profession and will be willing to be held to account for the achievement, attainment and progression of each individual student. Our academic expectations are high, but we are equally committed to the personal development of our students. This dedication is a pre-requisite. Due to its residential nature, Coln House demands an actively pastoral approach toward students. A full contribution to the pastoral and wider curricular life of the school is required. Person Specification: The ideal candidate will be dynamic and supportive with the ability to provide lessons that captivate and encourage students of all abilities. You will have a clear knowledge of current developments in the teaching of Science as well as the ability to successfully work in partnership with colleagues to plan and teach. An interest in and knowledge of Land based Studies and work related learning would be useful.
