Aylestone School

Based on a delightful site among listed trees, Aylestone School was formed as a mixed 11-16 comprehensive school in 1976 by the union of the two former grammar schools: the Hereford High School for Boys and the Hereford High School for Girls. Both schools had distinguished academic records and Aylestone School started life with the advantage of inheriting high academic, cultural and social standards. These have been fully maintained and Aylestone School has earned a fine academic name by virtue of the outstanding and consistent success of its pupils in the external examinations.

Eco School

The School exists, on the one hand, in order to develop every aspect of each individual pupil's potential to the full and, on the other hand, to serve the community by preparing the pupils individually and collectively for their life within it. The final objective is the integration of all the pupils, irrespective of ability, into a well-knit community, and their positive preparation for work and leisure and for their adult responsibilities as good citizens and parents.
Aylestone School is essentially a caring school and one which is committed to putting Christian principles into practice. Pupils, teaching and non-teaching staff all matter. Consequently, a happy, friendly and relaxed atmosphere has developed combined with a sense of purpose and unity.

Business and Enterprise College

Aylestone School has just become a Specialist College for Business and Enterprise. This award was based on an excellent track record for high standards in Mathematics, ICT and Business-Related Courses. The school is noted for its exceptional quality of advice and guidance given to pupils in terms of career choices and further education pathways. The Business and Enterprise status will now allow it to develop this good practice across the school and out into the community.

OfSTED inspection

The 2006 OfSTED inspection gave the school a rating of “Good” on every category. The challenge is now to turn Good into Outstanding.
