Job overview

Hours: 1.0 FTE

The Governing Body of the Island Innovation Federation is seeking to appoint a dynamic, energetic and well qualified Teacher of Science to join a dedicated team of eleven teachers and three technicians, who are striving hard to further develop an engaging science curriculum with student progress as its core purpose. For the right candidate, there may also be an opportunity to undertake the role of BTEC Verifier, with an accompanying reduction in timetable.

At Carisbrooke College, we have a solid foundation for a successful future, although we know that we still have work ahead of us. We believe that this role offers the successful candidate the chance to make a significant difference and it will help us to continue on our upward trajectory.

Although this post is primarily based at Carisbrooke College, the Federation comprises Carisbrooke College, Medina College and our joint VI Form Campus and candidates should, therefore, be prepared to work across the three sites as necessary.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be enthusiastic, professional and a strong team player
  • Be a consistently good or outstanding classroom practitioner
  • Be passionate about science, learning and teaching
  • Be committed to continued and sustained improvement for our students
  • Be positive, creative and determined (free thinkers are welcome)
  • Be willing to teach Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4; experience of teaching Key Stage 5 is desirable
    but not essential.

Island education has its challenges, but it also offers an opportunity for those ready to accept it. We would encourage all candidates to come and visit us and see what we have to offer.

For further information and an application pack, please visit our website at www.iif.org.uk. Alternatively, please contact Emily Thomson, HR Officer, on 01983 550009 or email emily.thomson@carisbrooke.iow.sch.uk

Please note that we cannot accept applications which are not submitted on the official application forms and we do not accept CVs under any circumstances.

The Governing Body of Carisbrooke College and Medina College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment.

The Governing Body of Carisbrooke College and Medina College is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
