Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a Teacher of Science to join our Science team; you could be a talented NQT or a more experienced colleague, but the essential criterion is classroom performance and someone who has a real desire to make a difference in the lives of our students. Experience of teaching Physics to A level would be preferred but not essential.

Located in the west of the city of Leeds, Priesthorpe is a successful 11-18 Foundation Trust school. In the past 5 years we have realised a significant improvement in standards. We are extremely proud of the achievements of our students and are absolutely determined to ensure that our school continues to improve and develop in an innovative environment where encouragement and challenge are central to ensuring everyone, staff and students, strive to maximise their potential.

We were delighted that in November 2012 Ofsted recognized our improvements and judged Priesthorpe to be a 'Good' school. They commented that 'All staff share the vision for the future of the school and work tirelessly to achieve it' and that 'Students are proud to be members of Priesthorpe School and say they are treated like adults'.

Parents and visitors to the school often talk of its unique ethos. Terry Waite, CBE reinforced this when he visited the school in December 2012 and called the school 'remarkable'.

Co-op Academy Priesthorpe’s ethos is centred upon the core themes of relationships and resilience. We believe that every student’s abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work. The Academy aims to establish values in students which lead to strong relationships underpinned by empathy and humanity, as well as to encourage students to see that mistakes are part of the journey towards excellence.

The development of resilience, the celebration of diversity and a commitment to working collaboratively with the wider community to promote learning, respect and social justice are all part of the school’s mission.

We believe we succeed together.
