Job overview

Established in 2012 following the amalgamation of neighbouring boys' and girls' schools, we are a 1,600-place, 11-19 co-educational secondary based in the Lincolnshire market town of Spalding. In January 2013, we made the decision to become an academy as part of CfBT Schools Trust (CST).

We are clear in our reasoning as to why we opted to become part of this particular trust - our provision was judged to be inadequate in the spring of 2013 and it was clear that we needed to change some of the things we were doing as a school. Most importantly, we need to raise the standards of teaching and learning, by developing our existing teachers and recruiting talented individuals to supplement our team.

Our Section 8 report in July 2014 highlighted that 'rapid transformation' is already underway in terms of our practice but this needs to be reflected in results at KS4, bringing this in line with the excellent outcomes we deliver in our post-16 provision. We are aiming for 55% or above next Summer which we believe would be a truly transformative figure. We are not in the position we aspire to be, and that is where you can make a rapid and considerable impact.

Our staff, and of course our children, will benefit hugely as part of the CST family. The opportunities for the professional development of our teachers within this trust are unparalleled because of the access we have to the world class support that CfBT has been delivering to schools and educational institutions for many decades. CfBT's involvement in the design and delivery of large-scale training programmes for teachers is extensive, from tailored support for the newly qualified, to the focused mentoring and coaching of more experienced practitioners. We believe this focus on betterment and quality will permeate through our classrooms and corridors and will be evident in the smiling children that make our academy their home from home. Together, with our sponsor and fellow schools within this trust, we are much, much stronger.

We can provide fertile ground for the growth of exceptionally talented teachers and are currently seeking to appoint a talented classroom practitioner to our Science department. Our new Teacher of Science will be:

  • Able to teach up to KS4, and looking either to start and/or develop your career. We would actively encourage applications from NQTs and experienced teachers alike
  • Have the innate ability to inspire scientific thought in and out of the classroom
  • Inspirational to colleagues and students, genuinely committed to sharing best practice and have high aspirations and expectations for this academy and their career
