Job overview

Are you passionate about teaching and learning? Do you want to share your passion with other teachers and support staff? Do you want to be part of a staff which is making a difference? This may be the place for you.

The Grangefield Academy is a popular 11-16 academy serving a diverse population in the heart of Stockton. The governors and the sponsor of the academy, Northern Education Trust, are now seeking to appoint a Teacher of Science to teach across the age and ability range.

This is an ideal time to join an academy where you can make a significant and measurable difference in improving the educational attainment of our young people. We are also approaching a particularly exciting period as we prepare for our new build and a 'schools within schools' approach.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and committed practitioner to join a professional team who are committed to securing good and outstanding teaching and the best possible outcomes for our young people. You will also be part of the Trust family of schools with a set of values we all share. The ideal candidate will be skilled in the use of technology and practical activities to enhance learning and will be fully committed to helping students achieve high standards of academic success.

The Trust is committed to safer recruitment practice and pre-employment checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed. All posts are subject to enhanced disclosure and barring service checks. We expect all adults to share our commitment to safeguarding and the health and wellbeing of our students.

Welcome from the Principal

I would like to wish you a warm welcome to Northern Education Trust’s – The Grangefield Academy website.  I am both delighted and honoured to be the Principal at The Grangefield Academy and consider myself very lucky to interact daily with the students who are polite, enthusiastic, hardworking, ambitious and, most importantly, proud to be part of The Grangefield Academy and Northern Education Trust. This sense of pride is evident in every aspect of day to day life at The Grangefield Academy from the exemplary standards of uniform and behaviour both inside and outside of the academy to the high participation rates in the extensive range of extra-curricular and enrichment activities on offer.

I hope you already share, or will come to share, my belief that The Grangefield Academy is an exceptional place to attend as a student or to work in as an adult.  At The Grangefield Academy we demonstrate a daily commitment to our high expectations and have a no excuses culture as we prepare our students for the challenge of a rapidly changing world.

We recognise that our students have different abilities, needs and interests and we provide a broad and flexible curriculum which is regularly reviewed.  We have an excellent staff base which ensures that students achieve their full potential regardless of their starting points. In 2018, The Grangefield Academy GCSE results were significantly above national average and had a progress 8 score of +0.57 which was in the top 3% nationally.

At The Grangefield Academy, we take pride in the positive partnership we have with parents and carers.  We believe that by home and the academy working together we can provide the very best opportunities for young people. We are unashamedly focused on the educational outcomes of our students and firmly believe that our students deserve to achieve the very best grades. We fully embrace the vision of our Trust:

“We constantly focus on standards as we understand outcomes are paramount. Our decision making is driven entirely by what is best for children. By doing this we enhance the life chances of the children and young people in our care.”
