Job overview

Required for January 2015; a well-qualified and enthusiastic Science teacher to work in this key department. We are looking for a strong classroom practitioner who is passionate about teaching and learning and student progress. The school sees the development of all staff as a key priority and leadership opportunities are available both within the department and at a whole school level. The successful candidate will play an important role in the teaching of Science across the whole age and ability range. We offer a competitive remuneration package and a comprehensive staff development programme.

The School underwent a 2 year £18m rebuild/refurbishment (completed in 2010) as part of the Governments Building Schools for the Future Programme, which has provided us with 10 science laboratories along with state of the art facilities.

St. Augustine's is an exciting and vibrant place to work, where the staff team help to create a community with a clear vision and moral purpose - where all strive to be 'the best that they can be' in all aspects of school life. The school is fully inclusive and promotes excellence in learning, seeking to ensure that all students progress to the best of their ability. With central London on our doorstep it really is a lively, great place to work at the cutting edge of pedagogy. Our students are an inspiration to work with.

Our collective hard work and determination to succeed resulted in the school being judged as 'Outstanding' by Ofsted (September 2013). We are very clear that this is not a destination - but rather a state of mind, we are proud of what we have achieved but constantly strive to improve even further and endeavour to be a great institution. We welcome applications from those who believe they can contribute to this crucial next phase of our journey.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. An enhanced CRB check is required for all successful applicants.

Visits to the school are welcomed.
