We are currently looking for career minded and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team to cover Maternity Leave from April 2012 (for one term in the first instance). The ability to teach Art would be an advantage.

Your duties and responsibilities will include the following:

• To support the classroom teacher
• To work with the class teacher to foster a warm, caring and friendly environment for the children within the classroom
• To work with the class teacher in preparing work for the boys, putting up displays and assisting as required within the classroom
• To support boys in a range of situations on and off site
• To carry out delegated tasks set by the class teacher
• To take particular responsibility for hearing the children read on a daily basis
• To conduct lessons (if required) according to the agreed policy and syllabus
• To ensure that pupils make the maximum amount of progress possible in each lesson.
• To maintain discipline in accordance with school policies at all times and to encourage positive practise in relation to general behaviour and approach to school life
• To maintain cordial and informative relationships with parents
• To engage in training/professional development

What is important is your ability to interact and support children in a positive way to foster their enthusiasm for learning, and to have the skills and maturity required to take on the Teaching Assistants duties and responsibilities.

To be considered for this position you must obtain CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) clearance. References must be provided and will be carefully checked. A degree qualification, teaching qualification or NVQ3 qualification would be preferable for this role. This post would suit a graduate looking for school based experience before furthering their career.

The Alpha Plus Group has its own salary scale, which is above the Central London Maintained Scale. A salary at the appropriate point on the Assistant Teachers' scale will be offered to the successful candidate.

The position is term time only and you would be working 40 hours per week.
