Job overview

Team Leader (Maths), Newcastle upon Tyne

Kenton School is at the cutting edge of modern education. With around 2000 students, we are the largest school in the North East, however despite our size we pride ourselves on retaining a family atmosphere and in ensuring that we cater for the needs of all our students, recognising their special gifts or talents.

Kenton is a school of which its community is rightly proud; we were rated 'good' at our 2012 Ofsted, the school is a National Support School; and we have made a significant impact in raising attainment.

We are seeking a talented and inspiring teacher to join our Maths department taking a lead role in either a Key Stage or specific subject area.

If you are the person we are looking for, you will possess a proven track record of outstanding classroom teaching, assessment for learning and behaviour for learning, combined with the ability to use data effectively to track progress and raise achievement.

You will also possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to provide effective direction and leadership to support the department in its key objective of raising attainment and instilling high expectations in pupils that they can achieve their potential regardless of the barriers they face.

In return, we offer the opportunity to work in our fantastically resourced classrooms in our purpose-built PFI school building, based on the outskirts of Newcastle upon Tyne with easy access for commuting from the A1.

If you have the skills, experience, talent and ability to shine in this role, visit www.kenton.newcastle.sch.uk telephone our HR Team on 0191 214 2200 or email: hr@kenton.newcastle.sch.uk.

Closing date: Noon on Tuesday, 22nd April 2014.

Vision and values

Outstanding teaching and learning for all students, so that knowledge is embedded and disadvantage is not a barrier to learning. All students reach their potential, so that they are well placed for life beyond school. Ensuring confident, happy and resilient students, who treat others with compassion and respect.

Ofsted report

“The school’s work to promote the spiritual, moral, social and cultural education of pupils and to prepare them for life in modern Britain is also a real strength. Pupils discuss current affairs regularly through the systematic personal, social and health education (PSHE) curriculum.”
