This post is externally funded by the Prince's Trust.

The Prince's Trust Youth Charity gives practical and financial support through developing key workplace skills such as confidence and motivation. The trust works with 16 to 25 year-olds who are unemployed or at risk of unemployment through underachieving in education. The Prince's Trust vision is that every young person should have the chance to succeed.

Prince's Trust 'Team' Programme

The aim of the Prince's Trust Team programme is to help disadvantaged young people to change their lives and to get into work, training or education. 'Team' is a 12 week full time personal development programme for 16-25 year olds delivered largely through community work. The programme's prime aim is to build confidence, motivation and skills to help unemployed young people return to education or move into employment.

We are looking to recruit an individual who has the experience of working with young people and specific target groups. It is essential that the post holder has the ability to manage their own workload, plan and deliver to the requirements of the programme and meet agreed targets. A Prince's Trust Team Leader qualification would be desirable.

As Team Leader you will be responsible for the planning and delivery of up to three Team programmes, ensuring the delivery complies with the Trust's 12 week stages and processes. You will be required to recruit a range of young people across target groups to achieve the prescribed number of Teams and an appropriate Team mix. The Teams, of up to 18 young people, will take part in a challenging and action-packed programme, a major part of which involves teamwork in the community. A key part of the role is to facilitate and encourage Team achievements, while guiding each Team member on an individual learning journey.

Elements of the Team programme also include:

  • Establishing what Team members want to achieve and finding out how to get qualifications
  • Residential/planning a week away
  • Community projects
  • Work placements
  • Planning for the future (CVs, interview skills and job applications)

You will also be required to assess, verify and report student achievement, progress Team individuals through the programme achieving a range of Performance Indicator targets. Negotiate residential and community project activities with local providers under the guidance of the Head of Department. Contribute to team review as complied by Prince's Trust and College staff and ensure agreed actions to improve the quality of the programme are followed up.
