Clearwater Bay School (CWBS) is a 4 form entry Primary School within the English Schools Foundation (ESF) in Hong Kong. CWBS is an IB World School providing an outstanding education to 720 students representing a diverse range of nationalities. We are seeking a Vice Principal to join our highly successful team to ensure the continued growth and development of the school.  The starting date for this position is negotiable.

Role Summary 

  • Consistently champion and uphold the school's core values and foster caring, good-humoured relationships.
  • Support the schools mission statement and IB Learner profile.
  • Develop and articulate a shared vision and strategic development plan for the school/phase and lead colleagues in achieving this.
  • Create an atmosphere of mutual trust where collaboration, discussion, debate and teamwork are promoted within the school/phase.
  • Model exemplary professional practice.
  • Contribute to the creation of the school's learning community, fostering a spirit of inquiry, innovation, professional learning and reflection.
  • Promote high standards and expectations through supporting performance.

Main Accountabilities Leadership

  • To be the Principal designate as required
  • To develop teachers' professional knowledge
  • To develop teachers' professional skills
  • To develop effective staff development programs
  • To ensure quality teaching/learning and assessment within Phase Group
  • To develop effective teams and ensure the successful implementation of the School Development Plan

School Management

  • Ensure effective Year/Phase group communications
  • Ensure professional learning through collaboration and self-evaluation
  • To conduct  lesson observations of class and specialist teachers
  • To review planning  of teachers and specialists
  • To support the teaching and learning of students across the school
  • To attend Phase Group planning sessions as required
  • G&T student / teacher support
  • Teaching timetable as determined by Principal

Specific Coordination Roles

  • Phase Group coordination including pastoral and standards of achievement
  • Lead CIS/WASC-School Evaluation
  • Lead AR&R- Assessment
  • Lead whole school CPD including staff meetings plan
  • Coordinate Mainstream EA's
  • Contribute to the School Development Plan

Line Management

  • Phase Group teachers
  • Mathematic coordinator
  • PSE coordinator
  • Visual Arts coordinator
  • Expressive Arts

Minimum typical education

  • Degree in Primary Education or equivalent

Minimum typical experience

  • Recent senior management / VP experience desirable

Core Professional / Technical Competencies required Abilities

  • Resouurce /budget management
  • Curriculum development

Knowledge

  • Sound Understanding of IB/PYP
  • Understand the needs of SEN/EAL students

  • IB Training will be provided
  • CIS-WASC training will be provided (accreditation programme)
  • Contribute to educational development of the Foundation

Notes:  All teachers are expected to contribute to the school extra curricular programme throughout the year.

Clearwater Bay School was established in 1992 to serve the Sai Kung, Clearwater Bay and Tseung Kwan O communities in the Eastern New Territories of Hong Kong.
