Job overview

Workforce Representative and Board Member: Education and Training Foundation, Westminster

(Unremunerated)

The Education and Training Foundation ('the Foundation') is a sector-led partnership that will support the improvement of teaching, learning, leadership and management across the education and training sector. During a period of significant change within the field of education, skills and training, against a backdrop of unparalleled economic challenges, the Foundation will play a key role in influencing and setting standards, ensuring clear objectives and providing relevant training across the wider FE and skills system. The Foundation Board has agreed three key priorities for the next two years: 1) improving teaching in English and maths; 2) leadership and governance; and 3) creating a VET system based on collaboration between employers and providers. The Foundation is looking to appoint a Board Member (and Trustee) to its Board, who will be expected to contribute and promote these three priorities.

You will be an outstanding individual who is a member of the FE and training sector workforce. You will contribute a workforce perspective to the Board, whose role is to provide the strategic guidance and leadership required to enable the successful establishment, embedding and impact of the Foundation within the sector.

You will be a practitioner in the FE and training workforce and embrace the challenging prospect of a future where the Foundation will drive thought leadership, innovation and research in an increasingly competitive market place, as well as reflecting the increasing role of employers in shaping provision. You must have the intellectual confidence to engage with a wide range of stakeholders. You will understand and believe in the economic benefits of the education and training sector, command credibility across the public, private and not-for-profit sectors, and contribute to excellence in the governance of the Foundation as a whole.

This post is unremunerated, but expenses incurred in respect of Board business will be reimbursed.
