About Strawberry Fields Nursery School

Strawberry Fields is a dynamic private nursery school in the heart of London’s Notting Hill. Over the years, it has developed its unique character and has become known as a place where children flourish and grow in an environment of love, care, creativity, fun and academic excellence. The school is heavily oversubscribed and extremely successful in preparing children for entry into their next schools. Strawberry Fields has been referred to in print as ‘Notting Hill’s best kept secret’, receiving OFSTED’s highest grade of ‘outstanding’ in every inspection. We surround the children with stimulating activities with a rich variety of resources to help them arrive at better understandings and ways of doing things. There is a special emphasis on the expressive arts as we introduce the children to the wonders of painting, dancing, singing, acting and storytelling. We have an enriched outdoor learning programme including tennis, ball-skills, swimming and forest school led by specialist teachers.

What people say about us

This elite nursery hidden modestly on the side of a church hall has immaculate surroundings and a charismatic headmistress. The parents’ association is a Who’s Who of top professionals in all fields, and competition is rife.”

- ABSOLUTE MAMA: THE MAGAZINE FOR STYLISH MUMS

“Maureen Turner, a gentle unimpeachably discreet head who believes her celebrity-magnet nursery is the best kept secret in London. As if. Parents increasingly make a pilgrimage from Mayfair and St John’s Wood to Strawberry Fields, attracted by the stellar reputation. Registration forms are usually couriered over hours after birth. Ofsted rates this slick operation as all-round outstanding. Maureen’s motto is a ‘classroom is the third teacher’, so her spacious, welcoming rooms are super-stimulating; lots of interactive boards and ‘imagination stations’. It’s all very hands on in a non-sticky way. Music is said to be the best in London, and pupils move on to the top preps. There is a sparking parental social scene too: quiz nights, cocktails, even clubbing. Where do they find the energy?”

- THE TATLER

Certainly many wealthy parents believe in the importance of tutoring children early. Highly sought-after nurseries such as Strawberry Fields…in the well-heeled parts of central and west London boast long waiting lists for places for two to five-year olds…The aim is to propel them into one of the equally competitive pre-preps, such as Wetherby and Kensington, when they are five. A good nursery is the first rung of a ladder that will take a child to the best public schools.”
