Handcross Park is a popular co-educational, day and boarding Prep School for around 400 pupils aged 2 to 13. Set in large, idyllic grounds, we are part of the Brighton College Family of Schools. Our school is purposeful, ambitious, forward-thinking and, most importantly of all, it is kind. Our motto is Be Trewe, and it encompasses a set of core values that we work hard to weave through the fabric of all that we do.

Situated in the village of Handcross, adjacent to the M23, the School is 20 minutes from Brighton and 15 minutes from Horsham and Gatwick.  The School attracts day children from surrounding towns including Haywards Heath, Horsham and Crawley and neighbouring villages.  Boarders include children from London (weekly boarders) and a wide international community.

With excellent, inspiring teaching, we provide a broad and innovative education whilst focusing on traditional values such as kindness, good manners and mutual respect.  We ensure that each child reaches his or her own individual potential, both in and out of the classroom.

Our purpose-built Nursery and Pre-Prep, also known as The Secret Garden, is located within an old walled garden and offers a safe and inspiring environment with an extended outdoor play area and access to our Forest School.  Children may enter our Nursery at the age of 2 and move onto the Prep School at the age of 7.

The Prep School has excellent facilities enabling teaching staff to broaden every aspect of a child’s education and these include an IT suite, science labs, a music school, a large sports hall, DT workshop, art studio, an outdoor classroom, an indoor swimming pool and extensive sports fields.  There is also a full after school activities programme offering more than 100 clubs.

Our excellent Common Entrance record and outstanding scholarship results (Academic, Sport, Music, Drama, and more) are testament to the teaching we provide, preparing our children for Brighton College and other top senior schools.

Our Boarding House is situated in the heart of the main school building and currently has beds for around 56 boys and girls from the age of 7.  With both weekly and full boarding available, the boarding community is a vibrant one.
