The ESOL Team are very proud to support Northampton College’s culture of high standards, an inclusive working and learning environment, and a professional committed workforce who are focussed on supporting our students to achieve the best they possibly can.
This highly successful, well-established team works with students from diverse backgrounds and delivers full-time programmes for 16–18-year-olds and part-time adult courses. We take a highly inclusive and responsive approach to support and enable students to thrive and progress in their ESOL studies.
The Role
The purpose of this role is to plan and teach on agreed ESOL programmes and to contribute to their continued development.
We have an exciting opportunity for a teacher who is passionately committed to working with students to help them develop their English language skills to facilitate their future life in the UK.

The Successful Candidate
The successful candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, abilities and qualities will include:
- A passionate commitment to helping young people at the start of their college journey to develop the skills they need to succeed and progress into wider college courses of their choice.
- A dedicated and passionate commitment to supporting adults to improve their English language skills to assimilate into life in the UK which might include further study, finding new employment or career advancement.
- An innovative and creative approach to meeting all students’ needs.
- A demonstrable ability to contribute to the values and activities of the curriculum team.
- Knowledge of the ESOL curriculum and a working knowledge of Entry level maths.

Northampton College is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational further education college situated in Northamptonshire. It is a 16-plus institution with three campuses: a major building at its main Northampton site, a smaller campus near the town centre and another 20 miles away in Daventry. It provides places for around 9,000 students aged 16 and over, most of whom are full-time and aged 16-18.
Northampton College was opened in 1973. It merged with Daventry Tertiary College to expand its Daventry campus in August 2004, and its Booth Lane campus reopened after a large redevelopment in 2012.
