Job overview

Teacher of Art

Teacher Main Scale or UPS

Full time or part time from September 2024 on a permanent basis.

We are recruiting for a Teacher of Art to join the successful and thriving Art Department here at Cleeve from September 2024. We are very flexible regarding full-time or part-time.

ECTs are very welcome and encouraged to apply and our provision for new members of staff is strong, particularly driven by our emphasis on career development. We are a teacher training lead hub school, which brings opportunity and mirrors being a centre of excellence for staff training. On appointment, you will be supported by a successful Head of Department, and a broader team of professionals, depending on your stage of career development. We pride ourselves on being the school of choice for ECTs.

If we appoint an ECT then we would pay your salary over the Summer break, before starting in September if you can start in July after your PGCE course.

The Art Department is a thriving community of subject specialists and is an inspiring part of our school, for both staff and students. Department outcomes across a range of art-based courses are strong at both Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5. Enrichment is a key part of the curriculum offer across all subjects—and this is very much the case within the flourish Art Department.

The school is an equal opportunities employer and committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and therefore expects all staff and  volunteers, to share this same commitment. We particularly welcome applications from under represented groups including ethnicity, gender, transgender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion

Over the next few years, student numbers are set to move towards 1900, which includes up to 400 students in our state-of-the-art Sixth Form Centre of Excellence. Scale brings amazing opportunities, for teaching breadth and also for career development. Our Support Staff are an essential part of our success and our infrastructure delivers a high support service for our students and school community.

We are a rapidly growing, values-driven school, that places staff training and development at the heart of everything we do. By getting this right, we know the education offer for our students will be exceptional.

Student outcomes are becoming stronger and stronger and our partnerships with some highly esteemed industry-based partners and the broader educational sector are truly transformational because they open doors to a rich eco-system of networking, opportunity and development.

Our Sixth Form Centre of Excellence cost in excess of £5 million and we have now built a £1 million Training Centre, which further underlines our vision for growth, opportunity and excellence. We are on a wonderful journey. Come and join us!

Alwyn Richards; Executive Head.

Ofsted

“The overall achievement of students is good, and outstanding for some. It is outstanding for those students who need extra help and in some subjects, including mathematics. Students’ achievement in English and in the sixth form is good and improving.”

“Much teaching in all subjects and in the sixth form is at least good, with a significant proportion that is outstanding.”
