Full Time
Required with effect from 1 September 2024 an innovative and dynamic secondary teacher with experience of successfully enabling children and young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties to fulfil their potential. The successful candidate will have the ability to build excellent relationships with school staff, parents and professionals from other agencies, have high expectations of students, and have resilience in managing the significant demands of working with the most challenging students in our schools.
Les Voies School is a specialist educational provision for students with significant social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, many of whom have involvement from other agencies, such as Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), Social Services and the Child, Youth and Community Tribunal.
The aim is to ensure that as a school the needs of students with SEMH are met and they have opportunities commensurate with their peers.
Applicants should have an understanding of strategies and systems which promote successful learning and positive behaviour. They should have a strong empathy with a desire to meet the needs of these students.
Applicants should be confident in the use of target setting, monitoring and assessment procedures that are an integral part of a professional approach to behaviour management. An understanding and awareness of personal and social skills work is also desirable.
The organisational arrangement for teaching may vary but will generally be in small groups with a subject LSA to support . All teachers are required to undertake the role of pastoral tutor for a group of named students.

This role offers off-Island candidates an 8-year Long Term Employment Permit (see details below). This permit will also enable candidates to bring immediate family members with them who will be permitted to work on the Island in any sector.
