I came into the teaching profession as a second career and qualified in August 1999. I am Primary trained and did my NQT year in a large Primary School in inner London. I worked there for three years before transfering into the secondary phase as a transition teacher teaching across a range of subjects to year 7 students. I was promoted in 2004 as Assisant Head of Year 7, then Head of Year. I followed the cohort up to year 9 as Head of Year. I then transfered to another secondary school in Essex and took up a post of Head of Year 10 and teacher of English. I went on to become Head of Year 11. I now teach in special education in a non-mainstream setting. Before entering teaching, I was employed in sales and marketing for 10 years and I also ran my own business for 5 years. I have also served in the armed forces. I was born in London, and moved to Wales in the mid 1980s. I lived there for 14 years, but moved back to London when I got my first teaching job in 1999.
