After many years in local government, I went into teaching at a further education college in 2002, becoming a fully qualified specialist dyslexia tutor in 2005. I currently work on a freelance basis, which includes carrying out full diagnostic assessments for students (post 16) including those applying for Disabled Students Allowance or access arrangements for examinations. I have postgraduate qualifications in Specific Learning Difficulties (both dyslexia and DCD/dyspraxia), AMBDA status and an SpLD assessment practising certificate from PATOSS. I work as a sessional specialist dyslexia tutor, through two agencies, providing specialist tuition to university students.
