"'If you can imagine it, you can achieve it' "
I completed my PGCE at Keele University in 1998 and went to Japan as a 'JET' (Japan Exchange Teacher), where I spent two years in a fishing village as an English langauge teacher. I studied for my TEFL at Tokyo Language Arts College whilst in Japan. On returning to the UK, I became an English teacher at an inner-city secondary school in Coventry, where I was promoted to 2 i/c of English and then to Head of Key Stage 3. I left to raise a family, and during this time completed a Counselling Diploma and my Masters in Education (Lifelong Learning) through the Open University. I returned to teaching at a local SEN (EBD) school as Head of English in 2008. I was promoted to SLT and SENCo during my time there. In April 2010, I launched my own company 'Lodgetutoring' specialising in EBD supply. I was busy in this role, and went to Lanchester on one assignment, who asked me to take on a 12-month contract. I was able to ensure English went from 'unsatisfactory' to 'good' in two months.
