Matt Grant
I trained originally as a History Teacher in the UK in 2003 with the aim of becoming an “expert teacher of history." But like all best laid plans, it was one that took a very different course! In 2004 I joined Ernest Cookson School in Liverpool – a specialist school for students with a mix of learning and social-emotional difficulties. I stayed there for over 3 yrs teaching History & English / Literacy Skills. During this time I trained in special needs leadership and dyslexia. I returned to Sheffield in 2008 to lead the English / Literacy Skills area at Clarkehouse Centre, a centre for students recently excluded from high school. Over the next 2 yrs, I developed provision for disaffected students & contributed to the development of the centre as a Nurture Group Network accredited provision. Since Sept 2010, I have worked as Special Needs Coordinator at Thornleigh Salesian College in Bolton and created a resource website - humansnotrobots.co.uk
