Students will understand how the education system works in Spain and the differences from the British system. Also, through the PPT I have included some vocabulary regarding school (alumno, profesor, deberes…) and some activities to practise those words. I have prepared this cultural PPT for the first days of school (“La Vuelta al cole” - ice-breaker) and also, I will be able to use it with my KS4 students when I introduce the topic of school.

This GCSE Art Project aims to develop and enhance the range of skills that students have been taught at KS3, enabling them to master and improve in a way that was engaging yet simple to achieve. There are some ‘essential’ art skills taught in this project, including: grid drawing, pencil drawing, pen drawing, acrylic painting, watercolor painting, poly printing and different types of research / art analysis / presentation skills. The theme is Pop Culture, allowing students a wide range of references to work from. The presentation includes lesson entry tasks / plenaries and exit tasks, examples of student work, homework tasks throughout. There are printable resources on slides 1-12 with the Pop Culture images I used in lessons. There is an artist research information slide that can also be printed (slide 43) There are 124 slides in total.

This lesson discusses the importance of World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development and includes opportunities for discussion and optional videos (timings included, so you can calculate what works for your time slot). The Teaching Notes include a link to duplicate a general knowledge quiz to begin to consider the value of cultural diversity and how much is already present in students’ lives. Culture quiz with 40 questions total divided up in four rounds (Spanish Geography, Spanish landmarks, Food, People and Culture). Useful as an end of year activity, a house competition or for taster Spanish days/ activities. Questions will suit year 7 and year 8. Best way to play it is in teams, groups answer on paper and the answers are marked by another team. It can easily take an hour to finish it at a slow pace, about 45 minutes if going fast. Answers are provided round by round.

This is a power point that can be done over 3 50 min lessons. You will have to watch the movie in Spanish beforehand. In this resource, you will find some cultural facts about Colombia, and introduction to the landscapes, music, and food. You will then move on to revising physical descriptions and the various gifts of the characters. You will also revise opinions and students will be asked to give their opinion on the music of the film (banda sonora). Finally, there is a game speaking activity at the end that will revise everything seen in the lesson most particularly revision of the physical and personal descriptions of characters.

OCR ALevel Russia 1894-1941 works for other exam boards too! Two hour lesson on Stalin’s cultural revolution and use of propaganda including his development of the cult of personality in four stages to ensure control in Soviet Russia. Fully resourced but can be done more independently using the Corin and Feihn textbooks- if you have them- if not slides can be printed for each group because all info is on there from the textbook. In this lesson, students think about the meaning of diversity and how this connects to contemporary society. In addition, they explore the positives associated with diversity and the ways in which to celebrate it.
