Feedback really appreciated :-)
Six sheets of straightforward revision questions. Written to provide simple recall test of what students have learned and need to learn (to reassure them as much as anything). Taken pretty much directly from the AQA 9-1 GCSE syllabus. Answer sheets are included. Would work well as a starter, plenary or on a VLE.
Keywords
Sexual reproduction; Asexual reproduction; Meiosis; DNA and the genome; Genetic inheritance; Genotype; Phenotype; Homozygous; Heterozygous; Allele; Sex determination; Variation; Evolution; Selective breeding; Genetic engineering; GM; Evidence for evolution; Fossils; Extinction; Resistant bacteria; Classification
Included in the bundle: 26 Biology Revision Question Sheets (AQA 9-1 GCSE Combined Science) £10
This is a simple differentiated worksheet for use after asking the question 'why and how are grasshoppers green' this leads really nicely into a discussion of the importance of variation.
The differentiation is that students can access how risky they want to be... Really risky is turn the sheet over and answer the question without help. Risky is answers the structured questions, least risk is fill in the blanks. Hope this is helpful? Please rate
8 presentations covering the Year 8 10b: Genes chapter of the AQA KS3 Activate scheme. Students work through a variety of tasks to develop their understanding of evolution and inheritance.
All presentations are also available as digital worksheets, which are ideal for independent study or catch-up of missed work through absence.
Aimed at a mixed ability Year 8 class.
Each presentation contains-
Bell work activity
Lesson objective and success criteria
Information slides
Challenge activities (group work)
Practical activity (where appropriate)
Demonstrate understanding tasks (with answers)
Lesson resources (additional to scheme)
Please note: (Kerboodle) worksheets from scheme are not included due to license.

In the course of seven presentations and seven worksheets, this unit helps students to:
recognise that living things have changed over time and that fossils provide information about living things that inhabited the Earth millions of years ago
recognise that living things produce offspring of the same kind, but normally offspring vary and are not identical to their parents
identify how animals and plants are adapted to suit their environment in different ways and that adaptation may lead to evolution
Fossils as scientific evidence
Mary Anning
Adaptation
Evolution
Charles Darwin
Genetics Chromosomes and DNA
Reproduction and inheritance
Wordsearch activity for Evolution and Inheritance topic.
Ideal starter activity with keywords for KS2 Evolution and Inheritance topic. Words listed in sub groups: the scientists, inheritance, fossils, adaptation. Includes wordsearch sheet and answer sheet. Available as PDF or jpeg.
True or False worksheet on the topic of evolution and inheritance.
I used this at the end of the topic to check understanding.
Edit - 05/06/2019
I have added the answers.
KS3 new for the Activate 2 unit ‘Adaptation and Inheritance’.
Full lesson ready to use straight ‘out of the box’.

This is a topic/ theme overview designed to act as a stimulus when planning a topic for KS2 about Evolution and Inheritance. To get the best out of this resource teachers should select from each area to meet the needs of their class and then produce their own planning as required by their school. The overview suggest ideas and resources but it is not a set of lesson plans and activities ; just the kernel of ideas for teachers to use and put their stamp on. Not all of the suggestions should be included in one topic, just those deemed to achieve the objectives selected by the teacher.
Page 1 consists of: reading suggestions for subject knowledge and books to use with children; visit ideas; relevant websites; topic hooks and a list of prominent people
Page 2 consists of: ideas for English, Maths, Science, History and Geography
Page 3 consists of: ideas for Foundation subjects
