Underachievement in MFL (can be adapted for other subjects)- Individual support for students

(0)
This resource aimed at Heads of Department/ faculty, contains 2 documents that can be used as specific and personalised interventions within your area. The Agreement Sheet provides a more holistic support, helping students to identify their skills/ areas for improvement and encouraging them to take responsiblity for their own learning. It is MFL specific but can easily be adapted for other subject areas The Individual Report helps monitor attitudes and learning in the classroom for 4 weeks with a clear point system. This document applies to all subjects and can be adapted. Both these strategies can be implemented in conjunction with whole school systems and are very effective to generate more positive attitude particularly if you can involve learning mentors within your school.

Observation & Learning Walk Performance Grid

(1)
For use alongside lesson observations and learning walks, this succinct performance grid enables observers to gauge and categorise teaching and learning sessions using OFSTED guidance for effective teaching. The first page of the document provides descriptors of 'outstanding', 'good', 'requires improvement' and 'inadequate' teaching within appropriately considered focus areas, for example: Questioning, Planning, Use of Additional Adults, etc. Schools that already employ this tool often opt to highlight the descriptors on this page as they observe, thus creating a bigger picture of the strengths and areas for improvement in the teaching and learning observed. Schools who still grade individual lessons have noted that this is a helpful aid in arriving at an overall judgement. The second page allows observers to further pinpoint and describe the 'www' (what went well) and 'ebi' (even better if) aspects of the lesson, in order to make feedback to teachers more clear.

Task Card/board examples - lesson structure support

(0)
As an SEN English teacher who trained in an autism base, I know how challenging it can be to differentiate for the needier pupils in your group. As a result of this, I frequently use the concept of task card/board in order to help structure pupil understanding. It is a simple yet effective way to scaffold their lesson and deescalate any anxieties in relation to expectations. They can be used discretely with individuals as a handout and differentiated accordingly, used for students on differentiated timetables or even as a whole class structured PowerPoint, for lower ability groups. I have collaborated 4 of my most successful examples that can be adapted to suit the needs of any pupils you may teach. NQTs and experienced teachers alike would benefit from using similar structures in their classrooms.

(0)
Are you looking for a way to showcase the Characteristics of Effective Teaching and Learning in your EYFS setting? Do you want to inform and inspire your staff and parents about how children learn best? If so, you will love these bright and informative posters! These posters are based on the latest guidance from Development Matters 2020, which outlines the three sets of characteristics that support children’s learning and development: Playing and Exploring: Children investigate and experience things, and ‘have a go’ Active Learning: Children concentrate and keep on trying if they encounter difficulties, and enjoy achievements Creating and Thinking Critically: Children have and develop their own ideas, make links between ideas, and develop strategies for doing things Each poster features a clear and concise statement for each characteristic, as well as examples of how adults can support children’s learning through positive relationships and enabling environments. These posters will help you to plan and deliver engaging and meaningful lessons, activities and continuous provisions that foster children’s curiosity, creativity and confidence. These posters are ideal for displaying in your classroom, staff room, or reception area, as well as for sharing with parents and carers. They will help you to demonstrate your understanding and implementation of the EYFS framework, as well as to celebrate and promote the amazing learning that happens every day in your setting.
